My latest project completed on 12/30/2007 was a skirt for my daughter, Karen. The photo doesn't really do it justice - when she sends me one of her wearing it I'll post another photo.

This year I got to be Cinderella's fairy godmother for the Halloween Dance at church.  This young lady (Dawn) asked if I would make her costume and this is the result.  This first photo is a closeup of the front of the gown's bodice.


And this photo is a closeup of the back of the bodice of the gown.

This last one is another view of the front of the gown with more of the focus being on the bodice of the dress.





Like any Cinderella Story however, there were some drawbacks - I had a lot of trouble with the zipper, but a little magic dust did the trick and it all worked out just as I had hoped. 

This was the most fun I've ever had making a dress.  The fabrics were wonderful to work with, the style was beautiful and the young lady was so excited to have a pretty dress to wear that I really did feel like the fairy godmother.  It was overall a great project to work on.

Karen's graduation.  As you can see on some of the other girls, the dresses were off the shoulder and quite low in front and back.  This made both me and Karen quite uncomfortable so we came up with a jacket for the dress.  Karen and 2 of her friends picked out the pattern and then I made them each a cute little white jacket to wear for graduation.  I thought they turned out quite nice and the girls were much more comfortable with the dress. 

I have been sewing quite a bit this summer, but keep forgetting to take photos.  Right now, I'm working on a purse for Karen and a Halloween costume for a young lady in our church.  I'll take photos and upload them when done.
